We sat down with Marc Seltzer, the chair of Democrats Abroad’s Montréal chapter, to discuss a variety of topics pertaining to the 2016 U.S. Election, including:

-The perspective of American expats in Canada on the election and the role Democrats Abroad plays in facilitating their continued involvement in the political process
-Hillary Clinton’s presidential credentials
-The influence of the Left (i.e. Black Lives Matter, social justice groups, the Bernie Sanders campaign) on the Democratic Party platform
-The “lesser evil” narrative
-Long-term sustainability of the two-party system and the role of third parties

Ben is a U3 student in Honours International Development with minors in Political Science and French Language & Literature. During his time at McGill, Ben has developed a deep interest in Sub-Saharan Africa (particularly South African history), Israel-Palestine, Québec politics, international political economy (IPE), trade agreements, institution-building, public policy, and urban planning & transportation.
