The Expat Elector in 2016
Welcome to 2016 readers! It is officially an election year. Within the next twelve months, we will have a new President of the United States. If you are feeling at all similar to the way I do, this is more terrifying than exciting considering the slate of current candidates but we will certainly delve into it together. Today’s post is simply a quick welcome back and some news about an important event this upcoming Tuesday.
While not directly linked to the 2016 election cycle, President Obama will be giving his final State of the Union address to the nation via live broadcast this Tuesday night at 9pm. It can be live-streamed from the official White House page. I encourage my readers to watch this address as it will be important in the speeches and developments of the individual presidential campaigns in the coming weeks. President Obama will set the tone for the remainder of his time in office during Tuesday’s speech and this greatly influences the candidates. I’ll be live-tweeting the speech – you can find me on Twitter at @phoebe__warren.
I’ll be working on an extensive article about all the new developments to the 2016 election cycle that occurred over the winter holidays so stay tuned!
With 302 days until the election,
Phoebe Warren
