Video: The Refugee’s Struggle
This week is a busy one but I wanted to share this link from the Syrian refugee crisis event that I wrote about just over a week ago. A cameraman from the Guardian follows a family of refugees as they travel from Hungary to Germany. This video really humanizes the struggle of individual families.
I thought the struggle of not knowing who to trust was a particularly enlightening part of this video. When provided with government buses to get to the Austrian border, the refugees are worried that they are being lied to and will be taken to a camp. They then seek assurances from another refugee before agreeing to accept the hand of the government. Tough to not know who is even on your side when you are in such dire need.
