Video: Youth and the Union Movement in Canada
What will you do after you graduate? Will you be able to get a job? How secure will it be?
The job environment for youth presently seems pretty toxic even here in Canada, where most growth in jobs are precarious or part-time, low-paying work. I don’t want to encite a sense of doom and gloom but our labour market seems much more troublesome than that of our parents. As a potential graduate this Spring, this is something that worries me and should worry you as well as a potential employee. Here in this video presented by Queen’s University, panelists discuss the benefits for youth in joining union jobs.
Sidenote: Watch Anna Goldfinch, from the Canadian Federation of Students, show up these oldsplainers, showing them the reality of the precarious environment for potential youth employees.
