What in the World is Going On With Ben Carson?
Okay so to be honest, I don’t even know where to start with this one because there is so much to write about. Dr. Ben Carson, Republican candidate for President of the United States of America and noted former neurosurgeon at John Hopkins Hospital, has officially lost it.
In the last couple of weeks Dr. Carson has been in the news for several of his past comments. – I’ve touched on a few of these before here. I myself have mostly brushed them off as your typical Republican antics but considering Carson is now leading in polling according to Wall Street Journal/NBC News, these comments are now getting concerning. Here are some examples:
- In his book “Gifted Hands” as well as several other publications, Dr. Carson has always claimed that he was offered a “full scholarship” by a celebrated war veteran in 1969 to West Point, the United States Military Academy. It has been revealed today by the Carson campaign that, for some reason, this was a downright lie.
- Carson, a Seventh-day Adventist, believes in accordance to his faith that the Egyptian pyramids were built by Joseph from the Bible to store grain, not for their proven purpose as the tombs of pharaohs.
- Even though he is a black man, Dr. Carson does not support the Black Lives Matter movement, as he believes it encourages “bullying people… I never liked the idea of bullying on behalf of anybody.”
- In regards to abortion, Dr. Carson is quoted as saying: “They tell you that there’s a war on women. There is no war on women. There may be a war on what’s inside of women, but there is no war on women in this country.” Enough said.
While it scares me that this man is leading the Republican primary polls at the moment, it is important to remember that we have yet to pass the 1 year mark until the election. Who knows, the playing field could look drastically different in just two weeks.
With 367 days until the election,
